Adoption Timeline

Everyone's adoption timeline is different, but this is what ours was like with Simeon's adoption:

August, 2009 - Begin adoption process in Taiwan (get on a waiting list with an adoption agency, complete home study).

Later...at the suggestion of our adoption agency, get on Taiwan Xi En's waiting list.

August, 2012 - Complete application process with Taiwan Xi En

September 4, 2012 - Referral

September 12, 2012 - Packet of translated documents received from Taiwan Xi En (taken to SOS and TECO for verification)

September 23, 2012 - Dossier received by Taiwan Xi En

October 15, 2012 - Documents submitted to Taiwanese court

October 29, 2012 - Notice of court date

November 7, 2012 - Court date

December 28, 2012 - Simeon's Home Study (court appointed social worker visits Taiwan Xi En)

February 11, 2013 - Apply with immigration services to renew our fingerprints / background check

February 20, 2013 - Taiwan Xi En receives our initial decree (15 weeks after our court date)

March 7, 2013 - Taiwan Xi En receives our final decree and files our paperwork with AIT

March 26, 2013 - Get fingerprints for immigration background check

March 28, 2013 - Buy plane tickets!

April 1, 2013 - Receive new fingerprint / immigration approval in the mail

April 4, 2013 - Leave the USA for Taiwan

April 6, 2013 - Hold Simeon for the first time!

April 12, 2013 - Immigration approval is forwarded to Taiwan (AIT)

April 16, 2013 - Simeon's visa to enter the USA is approved at AIT

April 17, 2013 - Leave Taiwan to come home

April 18, 2013 - Home!
